Just another ufo sighting?

i just wanted to ask do satalites in space suddenly change direction or speed whilst in orbit. I saw what looked likea satalite a small white dot moving between the stars but not actually between the stars and changed direction from heading 10 degrees north north east to 20-30 degrees north north east to 100 degrees south east east. I got a 42 year old cuzine of mine to come see it he saw it change direction completely and sped off across the north sea direction he said thats the first time he's seen something like that in the air looking like it has its own power sauce due to its change of direction a satalites normally move in a straight line. any thoughts?
