Married but wanting to file taxes separate?

My husband (soon-to-be ex) still have to file our taxes. He's wanting to file jointly, but I'm wanting to file separate. He swears up and down that its going to be a bad idea to file separate, but I'm not convinced. I dunno what he's thinking, but I just need some reurance. We didn't file for separation either, we're just getting a flat out divorce. Will this somehow affect our taxes? What are some pros and cons of filing jointly and separate? Thank you :)
